We are seeking voice actors for the audiobook version of Michael Michel's "Dreams of Dust and Steel Book 1: The Price of Power." This narrative unfolds in a fantasy realm of swords and sorcery reminiscent of Game of Thrones and delves into profound themes such as self-doubt, guilt, and sacrifice.

Content

One of our main characters who has first-person narration chapters. She is an older woman known as The Mistress of Time, with special abilities allowing her to see through time and space. She has an impossible task: train her grandson to die. By doing this, she’s fighting for the rights of people, and she takes no crap for doing it.

Voice type needed:
Older woman.
Medieval English known as Common accent

In this scene, Locastrii has demanded too much of her grandson and he’s lashing out. She doesn’t care about how he feels and is making sure her demands are met.

Audition lines:
Narration: A gust of wind sets the elm tree’s branches to scrabbling and kicks my shawl off one shoulder. Frigid air coils around my suddenly bare neck. I pull the shawl back into place and resume my grandson’s assessment from the shadowed boughs of the tree. He does not know I watch.

Narration: My daughter. His greatest obstacle. The woman is too damn good a mother. Bitterness clogs the back of my throat. Resentment fills me. I wish I’d been half so caring, half so good to her as she is to the boy. It’s too late for sentiments like that though. I am what I am. Hopefully, it is enough. I laugh at the irony of it all. Who could have guessed an exceptional mother might be the downfall of humanity?

Character: Save it for someone who cares, little fly. Just make sure my bed is satisfactory when I seek it, which will be shortly. You’re not the only one with heavy thoughts on the mind.
