Casting Call: "PADLOCK," a short film penned and directed by Patrick Linehan, is set to be filmed in Brooklyn, NY.

BACKGROUND: Inspired by true events from the summer of 2024 when the NYPD initiated Operation Padlock, closing and padlocking 1600 smoke shops across NYC suspected of unlicensed cannabis sales.

LOGLINE: In a race against time, a clever teenager scours the neighborhood for bolt cutters to rescue three individuals—a native New Yorker, a newcomer, and an immigrant—trapped inside the local smoke shop.

We are seeking actors for four supporting roles. These characters are vital to the community where our protagonist’s journey unfolds, each possessing unique perspectives and personalities. Actors with strong connections to New York City are highly encouraged to apply.

AUDITIONS: First round is self-tape. Sides will be sent to selected submissions. Callbacks, if needed, will be held in person in Brooklyn.

RATE: $200/day per performer. Meals provided on set. Copy of the finished film and credit provided to all cast.

Female, 45 to 60. The mother of one of our lead's friends, and the woman he has had a quiet, hopeless crush on for years. Betty is in the middle of a hard stretch: she is grieving her own mother's death and trying to sort out a car that will not start, and she is doing both without much help. Then a teenager's chaotic night pulls her into something she did not sign up for. Grounded, a little raw, funny without trying, and completely unaware of the effect she has on a sixteen-year-old. We are looking for an actor who can hold real grief underneath an ordinary conversation and let it surface only once. Brooklyn or wider NYC roots a plus.
