Casting Call: "PADLOCK," a short film penned and directed by Patrick Linehan, is set to be filmed in Brooklyn, NY.

BACKGROUND: Inspired by true events from the summer of 2024 when the NYPD initiated Operation Padlock, closing and padlocking 1600 smoke shops across NYC suspected of unlicensed cannabis sales.

LOGLINE: In a race against time, a clever teenager scours the neighborhood for bolt cutters to rescue three individuals—a native New Yorker, a newcomer, and an immigrant—trapped inside the local smoke shop.

We are seeking actors for four supporting roles. These characters are vital to the community where our protagonist’s journey unfolds, each possessing unique perspectives and personalities. Actors with strong connections to New York City are highly encouraged to apply.

AUDITIONS: First round is self-tape. Sides will be sent to selected submissions. Callbacks, if needed, will be held in person in Brooklyn.

RATE: $200/day per performer. Meals provided on set. Copy of the finished film and credit provided to all cast.

Male, 65 to 80. The local mechanic, and an institution on the block. Vincenzo knows everyone in the neighborhood, but only by their cars. He can tell you your car's whole history and your family's car history going back two generations, and he will, whether or not you asked. He is also the man holding the bolt cutters our whole story hinges on. Dry, unhurried, entirely unimpressed by urgency, and warmer than he lets on. We are looking for an actor who can play stillness and take his time; the comedy here is in how slow he moves while a teenager is panicking in front of him. Comfort around a garage or shop setting is a plus. Brooklyn or wider NYC roots a plus.
