An '80s Folk-Horror Slasher Inspired by Shakespeare's Classic

Five recent college grads venture to a remote cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains, hoping for a final, unforgettable summer weekend. Instead, they find themselves in a nightmare awash with neon and synth beats. Their encounter with a local moonshine stirs up long-hidden secrets, and a sudden violent act stains the ancient forest with blood, unintentionally releasing a wrathful pagan deity imprisoned in the woods. Thrown into a realm where the natural order is disrupted and a terrifying entity starts a relentless pursuit, these friends must let go of their carefully crafted facades to make it through the night.

The outsider who sees clearly. Xander is leather jacket and Dunhill cigarettes and guitar — the wrong-side-of-the-tracks observer who has been watching this group from the edges for years. He is not cruel. He is honest, and sometimes that looks the same.

Xander's fatal flaw is that he believes clarity is the same as permission. He sees what's wrong and decides it's his job to say so. He's not wrong about what he sees. He's wrong about whose call it is to say it.

The actor playing Xander must understand that every cynical line is a man performing not-caring because caring costs too much. The leather jacket is armor. Underneath it is someone who doesn't stay down.
