An '80s Folk-Horror Slasher Inspired by Shakespeare's Classic

Five recent college grads venture to a remote cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains, hoping for a final, unforgettable summer weekend. Instead, they find themselves in a nightmare awash with neon and synth beats. Their encounter with a local moonshine stirs up long-hidden secrets, and a sudden violent act stains the ancient forest with blood, unintentionally releasing a wrathful pagan deity imprisoned in the woods. Thrown into a realm where the natural order is disrupted and a terrifying entity starts a relentless pursuit, these friends must let go of their carefully crafted facades to make it through the night.

Please Note: Midsummer Night Scream is an intense and immersive horror experience featuring stylised violence, body horror, and exploring themes such as internalised homophobia, parental grief, and psychological trauma.

Roles Details

Title
NICK/NIKKI (Bottom)
Content
The frantic, meta-theatrical playwright who thinks he's documenting everyone else's story and doesn't realize he's in his own.

Nick stalks the woods with a microcassette recorder and a crude donkey mask, convinced he is capturing the marrow of human experience for his one-man show The Static. He is funny - genuinely, specifically funny - and he sees more than he lets on. He just doesn't know what to do with what he sees.

Over the course of the night Nick loses the recorder, gains the mask permanently fused to his face, meets a woman who is three thousand years old and genuinely listens to him, and learns - for the first time - to be present in a room without documenting it. His epilogue is the play's final human image: a scarred man with a recorder he doesn't press record on, watching the fog swallow a denim jacket.

$625 flat rate
