Characters Played: TOAD (Principal), SEA RAT
Gender: Male
Playing Age: 30–50
Role Overview:
Toad: A textbook case of hyperactivity and hyper-fixation. Naturally charming, aristocratic, and boastful, Toad throws his immense inherited wealth into dangerous fads (especially motor-cars) that land him in constant trouble. He possesses a silver tongue and a heavy purse, rewriting himself as a grand hero even when fleeing the law disguised as a washerwoman.
Sea Rat: A rugged, salt-encrusted, seasoned seafarer who tells mesmerising, dangerous stories of exotic faraway lands.
Skills Required: Exceptional physical transformation skills. Must have the ability to switch rapidly between distinct character body-works (the literal weight of the wealthy Toad versus the active, salty sailorman). High-energy comic acting, strong falsetto work (for Toad’s washerwoman disguise), and robust musicality/singing for a dramatic solo showstopper. - Salary
- Fee £631 per week inclusive of agent fees. Local Hire no accommodation will be provided. Tour leaves and returns to Birmingham base each day.
