Gender: Male
Playing Age: 35–55
Role Overview:
Rat: A Midlander Canal gipsy in love with his narrow boat. A street-wise survivor who acts as a guide and protective older brother figure to Mole. Beneath his rugged exterior beats the heart of a romantic poet who finds epic verses in everyday adventures. Good singing voice required.
Badger: A deeply private, highly intelligent, and reclusive figure living in the Wild Wood. He loathes society but possesses legendary wisdom. A commanding, strategic mastermind, protector, and fighter when his friends are threatened.
Train Driver: A decent, highly empathetic fellow with a healthy disdain for strict rules, bullies, and motor-cars.
Accent Requirement: Strong Midlander Accent (e.g., Birmingham, Black Country, or general West Midlands) for the character of Rat. The script explicitly notes: "The stronger the Midlander accent, the better."
