Casting "Darling, I Think I’m Turning Into a Chicken," a darkly comic new play about generational trauma and transformation.
Florence has everything she’s ever wanted: a fiancée, a thriving career, and a perfect home. But when she starts to grow feathers, her carefully constructed life begins to unravel. As the transformation worsens and threatens to kill her, Florence discovers she’s not alone: her estranged family are changing too. To survive, she must confront the past she’s spent a lifetime avoiding.
Blending new writing with choreographed movement and ensemble physical theatre, the piece moves between realism and absurdism. Using the image of the chicken, fragile yet descended from the T-Rex, the play explores how trauma is carried in the body, and what happens when it is left unspoken across generations. Urgent, surreal and darkly funny, Darling, I Think I’m Turning Into a Chicken asks what it takes to break cycles of inheritance—and whether healing is ever truly possible. - Dates

Florence’s boss, male-presenting, around forties. Same actor plays the Doctor and Mark. Prideful, traditionally masculine, under a lot of pressure and focused on perfection. Mark runs a tight ship - he is at the top in his firm, and his firm is at the top of all the charts. But he is running it at a point of change; while in the past this firm would have been full of men in top positions, there has lately been an increase of women (!) in top positions as well. Is this because he values workplace diversity? No! But having strong women is a selling point to the customers and as such, profitable! Florence happens to be one of those women who Mark can see rising up if she shows signs of being able to be manly enough. However, he is suspicious and deeply bothered by “all those pesky female-issues” Florence seems to be having lately.
