Casting "Darling, I Think I’m Turning Into a Chicken," a darkly comic new play about generational trauma and transformation.
Florence has everything she’s ever wanted: a fiancée, a thriving career, and a perfect home. But when she starts to grow feathers, her carefully constructed life begins to unravel. As the transformation worsens and threatens to kill her, Florence discovers she’s not alone: her estranged family are changing too. To survive, she must confront the past she’s spent a lifetime avoiding.
Blending new writing with choreographed movement and ensemble physical theatre, the piece moves between realism and absurdism. Using the image of the chicken, fragile yet descended from the T-Rex, the play explores how trauma is carried in the body, and what happens when it is left unspoken across generations. Urgent, surreal and darkly funny, Darling, I Think I’m Turning Into a Chicken asks what it takes to break cycles of inheritance—and whether healing is ever truly possible. - Dates

Evelyn’s only caretaker, female-presenting, early forties. Same actor plays Shernice and the Nurse. She was once a bright and positive person who loved working with children, but years of nursing a pyromaniac grandmother have left her as a husk of her former self. She looks like she is in her sixties despite being in her early forties, and all of her positive attitude and kindness are gone. While she is still a hard-core professional who cares for the wellbeing of others, she is also hostile and suspicious of others - especially when it comes to Evelyn’s family members. However, in the end, she still finds in herself the potential to be a helpful guide for the family through the very rough storm of reconnection.
