King Peter of Pinner is a charismatic, energetic and highly likeable character with a strong comic presence and a big heart. He is upbeat, vibrant, youthful in spirit, and full of personality. This is not a “bumbling old king” or a figure of slapstick incompetence. His humour comes from a witty delivery of many one-liners and a naturally engaging personality. He is Aurora’s father but should absolutely not be played as elderly. As such, we are happy to consider younger actors who can play a little older. Alongside the comedy, King Peter carries some of the most sincere and emotionally resonant moments in the show. His relationship with Aurora is the heart of the production and these moments should land with honesty and emotional clarity. Ultimately, this is a role for a performer with strong charisma, excellent comic timing, and the ability to anchor emotional truth. RP accent.
This track may also appear as ensemble in certain numbers, as well as be in many as the King, so a strong mover is preferred.
