Michael works hard, no one can take that away from him. He’s clawed himself out of the small town he grew up in, got himself a nice city apartment and a cushy job in finance, and it’s this endless work ethic that leads to a problem. He thinks that just because he works hard, he deserves better than other people. The truth is, Michael sees his old friend Christian as his opposite, someone who is lazy, stupid, and unstable.

Michael wants Christian out of his life, and he’s going to do so in a way that lets him save face.
He’s going to convince himself that Christian killed his cat.

Deep down, Michael sees Christian as Scum.
