Open to all ethnicities.

Jess is 14 and has just had her phone confiscated for two weeks after something online went wrong. She’s angry, defensive and convinced she’s the victim, but underneath she’s lonely and desperate for her friend to actually listen. She tries to open up again and again, but keeps losing her friend’s attention to the feed. By the end she gives up and walks out. She’s the emotional heart of the film and the only person in the room who wants nothing from you.

What we’re looking for

Natural, truthful screen acting: subtle, not “performed”.
Emotional range: frustration, hurt, vulnerability and low mood.
Comfortable acting directly to the camera, treating it as a real person sitting beside you.
Ability to sustain long, uninterrupted takes (up to about two minutes) and to hold exact positions for continuity.
Focus and stillness while a lot happens around you: Jess is on screen for the whole film.
