Jacob “Jake” McCray
Playing Age: 20s to 30s
Jacob is a gifted digital technology student specializing in animation engineering and design and the son of legendary animation executive Duke McCray. Brilliant, driven, and ambitious, he lives under enormous pressure from his father's expectations and his future role in the family business.
Initially analytical, impatient, and socially awkward, Jacob uses a secluded tree to escape technology, corporate responsibility, and personal anxiety. Through his friendship with Twyla-Angel, he discovers storytelling, creativity, and emotional vulnerability. His journey explores artistic ownership, cultural respect, mental health, identity, integrity, and the search for validation.
The actor must convincingly portray:
High-level technical confidence.
Recurring anxiety and panic attacks.
Comedy and playful banter.
Growing romantic chemistry with Twyla.
Moral blind spots regarding cultural awareness, intellectual property and creative ownership.
Genuine remorse and personal transformation by the end of the play. - Salary
