Casting for a Mandarin-language short film set in London, centred on the relationship between a mother and her daughter living abroad.
After discovering through her daughter’s private social media account that she has been feeling lonely and struggling to adjust to life in the UK, a Chinese mother decides to travel to London to surprise her.
With the help of Qingqing, the daughter is invited to a Chinese restaurant, unaware that her mother is in the kitchen preparing her favourite dishes. As she tastes the food, she begins to recognise a familiar flavour from home and slowly realises that her mother may be nearby.
The story builds towards an emotional mother-daughter reunion, exploring homesickness, family connection and the quiet ways parents continue to care for their children from afar.
The film will be shot in a naturalistic, intimate style, with a strong focus on authentic performances and emotional realism.
Fluent Mandarin Chinese is required for the principal cast. - Dates
- 6–8 October 2026 (one-day shoot, exact date TBC)
