Casting Call: A Christmas Carol
Milestones Museum, Basingstoke

We are casting performers for an immersive experience of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol at the Milestones Museum in Basingstoke.

We are looking for confident, engaging performers with experience in immersive and/or conventional theatre or attraction based work. Performers should be comfortable with improvisation, working in an interactive environment, engaging directly with family audiences and bringing characters to life within a museum setting. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a festive, atmospheric production staged within the unique setting of Milestones Museum. We’re looking for performers with:
Strong improvisation and audience-engagement skills
Experience in immersive theatre, attractions, live events and/or theatre
Confidence performing in a busy public environment
Reliability, professionalism and good teamwork
A warm, playful and adaptable approach to performance

We are aiming to either have two casts or work with a Swing model to ensure all performances are covered and provide cover for characters.

The Ghost of Christmas Past

Content

The Ghost of Christmas Past is a mysterious, luminous spirit who guides Scrooge through memories from his earlier life. They reveal moments of childhood, friendship, love and loss, allowing Scrooge to confront the person he once was and the choices that shaped him.

The character is otherworldly, curious and emotionally intelligent, combining a sense of childlike wonder with an underlying power and authority. Their presence may be gentle and playful one moment, then haunting and intense the next.

This role requires a strong physical and vocal presence, excellent audience-engagement and improvisation skills, the ability to create a sense of wonder and intimacy in an immersive environment and confidence in guiding and interacting with audiences.

The role would suit a performer who can create a distinctive, visually compelling character through movement, voice and a strong connection with the audience.

Salary

Rehearsal Fees: £631 (full period) Fitting Fee (half an hour call): £35 Weekday performances: £139 per 7.5-hour call Weekend performances: £111 per 6-hour call
