Head2Head Sensory Theatre is a registered charity dedicated to the Special Needs’ and disabilities community. We are passionate about making theatre accessible for all and understand that families who have a child with a disability face many barriers. We raise awareness, share knowledge and develop new ways to make this happen.

Head2Head produces a pantomime every year for special needs schools and public community performances. This year's panto is a two-hander with lots of songs, Makaton signing and sensory moments to take around the audience.
There are a few combinations that we offer to schools…
2 x 45-minute performances (morning & afternoon)
2 x workshops in the morning with 12 students in each to rehearse them into a few scenes with a single performance in the afternoon.
4 x 15-minute classroom based taster sessions plus an afternoon performance.
For public community performances we offer two performances (morning & afternoon).

The actors can either travel with the van, which will be based in Oxted, or separately. In addition to the get in - and get out - the actors will also be responsible for liaising with teachers (schools bookings) or greeting families (public community performances) and checking them off the audience list. For our community performances the actors would also need to set up a sensory table (toys, puzzles and sensory objects) for the participants to use whilst they wait for the show to start - or use during the show if needed - and a small merchandising table.

In addition to performing the role will include singing and the ability to Makaton sign (Head2Head will offer support and guidance if you haven’t used it before). With Makaton, signs are used, with speech, in spoken word order. This helps provide extra clues about what someone is saying. Using signs can help people who have no speech or whose speech is unclear. Using symbols can help people who have limited speech and those who cannot or prefer not to sign. Improvisation is a key part of our work owing to the needs of our participants and the likelihood of distractions, noise and unexpected movement of props & set - to name but a few! No two performances are the same!!

Auditions will held in person in Oxted, Surrey on Wednesday 30th September 2026.

All actors will need to be DBS checked and hold UK driving licences and be willing and able to drive our van.

Dates

The cast will comprise of four actors sharing two roles. Performance dates will be divided equally amongst the cast.
Rehearsals - 2nd to 17th November 2026 (maximum 7 rehearsal dates within this period)
Period of Tour - 18th November to 21st December 2026 and 6th January to 15th January 2027

Who is Mother Goose?
Dame! She is generous to a fault and will give her last away much to the annoyance of her son, Jack. She has fallen on hard times until Cilla, the Goose, comes into her life and turns everything around. Cilla's golden eggs make Mother Goose rich but with this new found wealth she becomes monstrous; greedy, vain, materialistic. The panto follows Mother Goose's story arc until she realises the error of her ways!

Who are we looking for?
Fun, energetic performer to encourage audiences with learning difficulties and disabilities to participate and enjoy a pantomime experience.
Good singing ability.
Ability to play a musical instrument desirable but not essential.
Team player.
Must hold a UK driving licence and be happy to drive the company van.

Salary

Rehearsal Day Rate - £170.00 (inc. travel) Performance Day Rate - £210.00 (inc. travel) Overnight subsistence (only applicable to dates/venues involving long distance travel from Oxted) - £25.00 Accommodation is organised and paid for by Head2Head.
