Shoddy Theatre are an up-and-coming force in British comedy theatre, with their hit physical show A Shoddy Detective - The Art of Deception having already toured UK mid-scale theatres and played highly successful seasons in Edinburgh and London and now set to tour again in the UK and be replicated overseas. Their distinctive style draws on classic British comedy influences including Fawlty Towers and the Carry-On films, mixed with clowning and lightning costume changes.

We are now casting for two UNDERSTUDY ROLES in the 2027 UK Tour of this show.

Scotland Yard’s finest detective (or so he’d like you to think), shabby but eternally upbeat Stuart Pidcock is the bumbling crime-fighter that the Metropolitan Police have assigned to guard a priceless masterpiece at a charity auction on the day it goes missing. With press and senior officers baying for results, he sets about trying to solve the mystery, getting into multiple scrapes along the way.

We’re looking for a brilliant comedy actor and natural team-player, with strong physical, clowning and stage combat skills, to join the Shoddy ensemble for this show. Experience of touring useful.
