Craze is the charismatic, tragic Polish neighbour and former lover of the protagonist Betty.
Craze represents the raw, untamed passion and freedom that Betty denies herself after settling into a dull marriage. Their relationship ends abruptly when Craze is killed in a violent confrontation with his jealous wife.
Thirty years later, on her sons wedding, an older Betty retreats to the attic and vividly conjours the spirit or memory of Craze, empowering her to reevaluate her life. - Salary
