The film offers a poignant portrait of a man navigating the emotional complexities and shifting terrain of grief, as he moves toward a hard-won sense of acceptance.
Directed by Ally Mayan award-winning writer and filmmaker known for her emotionally resonant and visually experimental work the film reflects her signature focus on women confronting trauma and transformation. A recipient of multiple Best Director, Best Narrative honors and more (Toronto, San Francisco, Santa Barbara etc.), May brings a haunting sensitivity to the material.
This project serves as a proof of concept, with plans to enter the festival circuit. A deeply touching story about a man grappling with the vicissitudes of love, loss and grief on his path towards acceptance. After losing his wife, Alex retreats into a solitary life in the high desert, finding solace in the routines, memories, and conversations that keep her close. However, when his sister-in-law pushes him to attend a family memorial, he must confront whether honoring the past requires letting it go.
This is a SAG-AFTRA MICRO BUDGET PROJECT AGREEMENT.

Jessi is Alex’s late wife. Warm, perceptive, and quietly incisive, with an effortless wit and deep emotional intelligence. Talent must possess an understanding of the superego (Freud) and how one's unconscious fear can prevent moving forward.
