The Promise is an independent short film about two women at different stages of their lives who meet while preparing for an audition. What starts as a simple encounter becomes an important moment for both of them as they deal with fear, confidence and finally doing the things they have been putting off.

The film is intended for film festival submissions. It will be a small crew and a relaxed shoot in Northampton/Northamptonshire. The role is unpaid, with reasonable travel expenses discussed, screen credit and footage from the finished film available for showreel use.

Eileen is a woman in her 50s–60s who has spent years putting things off and convincing herself it might be too late. She finally decides to do something she has wanted to do for years — audition for a role.

She has warmth and humour, but there is vulnerability underneath. I’m looking for an actress who can play the emotional moments naturally without overdoing them.

Filming will be approximately half a day on a weekend, with the date to be confirmed.
