Six misfit actors with Sub-Saharan African heritage have just watched an English panto - but none of them get it! So they decide to stage their own through Ugandan folk tale, Kintu & Nambi.

As they learn the customs of a panto and what makes it work, together they create something that no other panto has done before, through a truly African retelling.

In Kintu & Nambi, the coming together of Kintu (a farmer boy) and Nambi (a celestial being) they must overcome the villainous Walumbe, Nambi's brother and the symbol of death and plague who threatens to steal their first born. With the help of Nambi's mother the Drag Queen of the stars and sky, Gulu, Gulu's idiot servant Kwete and Kintu's trusty cow Murife, they try to plot how they can live peacefully and thwart Walumbe's evil plans.

Mother to the sweet Nambi and the dangerous Walumbe and flanked by her idiot servant Kwete.
As she sends Nambi off on her journey of discovery she must also keep the treacherous Walumbe at bay.

R&D - 2 weeks workshop in London with Work-in-progress show in Sheffield. Fee - £1300 (£650 for 2 weeks) Return train travel & accommodation covered by production Per/Diems - £50 (total)
