TASTE is a 5-minute magical realism short film, produced as part of an MA in Film & Media Production at Coventry University.

A backstreet bakery sells cakes that fix life's problems — until a heartbroken young man walks in asking to forget the woman he hurt, and the baker's final scene reveals she has her own reason to remember him.

Tone: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind meets Chocolat. Warm, funny, with a sting in the tail.

We shoot over two days in July at a real artisan tea room in Coventry (location confirmed, venue closed to the public on shoot days). Directed by Sabi Singh.

All cast receive credit, meals on set, and graded footage/stills for showreel use.

Lead. The owner of a magical backstreet bakery — warm, wry, and effortlessly in control with her customers. The final scene reveals a private grief she has carried for years, and the entire film turns on her face in one silent moment. We're looking for an actress who can play charm as a surface and heartbreak underneath it, with minimal dialogue in the key scene. Two shoot days.

Salary

Unpaid student production. Travel expenses covered (within reason, agreed in advance), meals and refreshments on set, IMDb-eligible credit, and graded footage and stills for your showreel within 8 weeks of picture lock.
