Call for ACTOR 1: OTHELLO

We are seeking performers who:
Thrive within a small-company environment
Enjoy touring and international travel
Are collaborative and supportive team members
Demonstrate resilience, professionalism and adaptability
Have a passion for Shakespeare and contemporary musical storytelling
Can maintain high-quality performances throughout a demanding tour

We are particularly interested in performers who bring energy, creativity and generosity to the rehearsal room and who are excited by the opportunity to engage young audiences through theatre.

Applicants must:
Have the legal right to work within the European Union for the duration of the contract
Preferably be an EU passport holder
Be available for all rehearsal and touring dates
Possess excellent spoken English
Be comfortable living and working overseas for an extended period

A commanding and charismatic military leader. Othello would ideally be portrayed by a Black performer or performer of African heritage. He possesses strength, dignity and emotional depth, commanding respect both on and off the battlefield.

Respected and admired, Othello is a man who has built his identity around honour, loyalty and courage. His deep love for Desdemona becomes the very thing that leaves him vulnerable to manipulation. His journey is a tragic descent from trust and devotion into jealousy and destruction.

Vocal Requirements
Strong contemporary musical theatre technique with excellent pop and rock vocal ability
Excellent storytelling through song
Clear diction and confident RP accent work
Strong harmony singing skills

Movement Requirements
Strong contemporary movement ability
Excellent physical stamina
Confidence learning choreography quickly

Salary

£13,000 guaranteed fee for the full contract period, inclusive of all rehearsals and touring performances. Accommodation provided throughout the contract in Italy. Return flights and transfers between the UK and Italy provided. Christmas and Easter breaks included, with return flights to the UK provided.
