Adapted From the first play by Bertolt Brecht.
Young Baal is exceptionally talented, yet deeply resentful of the constraints imposed by civilized society. Rejecting the city and its conventions, he sets out in pursuit of absolute freedom through alcohol, love, and a life of wandering. Along the way, he captivates those around him while leaving a trail of emotional destruction. He indulges in the pleasures of desire but refuses to accept responsibility for the consequences of his actions.
As the people closest to him gradually drift away, Bahl grows increasingly isolated, volatile, and self-destructive. His downward spiral culminates in a violent confrontation in which he kills his only true friend. Fleeing into the wilderness, the poet who once celebrated life and freedom ultimately dies alone, abandoned to the darkness he could never escape. - Dates
