Every other character is an ordinary person in an ordinary life. He is the most extraordinary body in the room, talking about the most ordinary thing in the world. The comedy is entirely in the gap. He gets fewer lines than the others because he needs less. The visual is doing most of the work, which means his lines need to be the most matter-of-fact of anyone's.
