I am a Birmingham-based writer casting actors for a staged reading of a new original play titled How Many Times Will They Kill Me.

This is an intimate, character-driven psychological drama set within a single family home, exploring tension, control, and perception through the perspective of a young child.

The reading will be a collaborative, low-pressure environment focused on exploring the script, characters, and tone.

ABDUL (Male, 30s)
Controlled, authoritative, emotionally restrained. A strong presence with underlying intensity.

JANNAT (Female, late 20s–30s)
Emotionally complex, under pressure, holding things together while internally struggling.

HAMZA (Male, playing 6–8 years old)
Quiet, observant, sensitive. Can be played by a young actor or an older actor with a youthful presence.

IQRA (Female, playing 4–6 years old)
Minimal dialogue. Innocent but occasionally unsettling presence. Can be stylised.
