Papà (mid-50s) is father to lead character 13-year-old Cecilia; he is a gentle, blue-collar immigrant whose broken English only adds to his warmth; he adores his daughter and turns to her for help more than he should, overwhelmed by bills, language barriers, and a wife he doesn’t know how to heal; he is a trusting, humble man of enormous heart, doing everything he can — and painfully aware that it may not be enough; casting Type Sought: John C. Reilly–esque warmth with a David Harbour–like working-class presence — more grandpa-looking than dad, a bright light yet worn out, emotionally open, deeply devoted. Accent Requirement: Must be able to perform a credible Italian or Italian-inflected accent with authenticity and respect; fluency in Italian is a plus but not required.
