JODIE Vicious, status-obsessed and ruthlessly manipulative, Jodie is Lucy’s calculating stepmother and Annie’s fiercely protective mother, driven entirely by wealth, reputation and social power. Sharp-tongued and physically aggressive, she rules the Tate household through humiliation, coercion and violence—engineering Lucy’s forced marriage, enabling years of abuse, and ultimately escalating to attempted ritual sacrifice when her status is threatened. Beneath her polished, socially ambitious exterior lies a deeply insecure woman terrified of losing control, whose cruelty intensifies the moment her authority is challenged. The role demands a commanding presence capable of delivering biting dialogue, emotional volatility, and unapologetic physical aggression, while revealing flashes of desperation when her power begins to crumble.

Notes about role: Jodie is involved in multiple high-intensity violent scenes throughout the script, including repeated domestic abuse toward Lucy (slapping, hair-pulling, dragging), physical aggression toward a child (yanking Linda by the ear and slamming her to the floor), and kicking Ursula during a confrontation. She actively participates in a forced abortion plot, incites ritual blood sacrifice by ordering Lucy and Linda restrained and “bled” in the Seventh Vault, and repeatedly demands their execution, including supporting armed guards opening fire. She also attempts a voodoo hex against Lucy. In retaliation, she is violently kicked by Lucifer and thrown across the room, crashing into a statue and coughing blood. The role involves sustained verbal cruelty, physical assault, child endangerment themes, and ritualistic violence.

These scenes will all be done with care for those involved in the scenes.
