Whilst attending university, two young men fall deeply in love, but only one of them is allowed to exist openly. Pieces is a very raw, intimate short film about a gay boy and his closeted Muslim lover. Their relationship survives only in fragments, secrecy, and silence.

Umar: (Playing Age 20 - 28) - Arab, North African or South Asian heritage

Umar is a closeted Muslim boy, struggling with religious guilt and family pressure to live a life that is not his own.

Umar is very rough around the edges. He was born and raised in East London, in a very traditional Muslim household. His parents, both being first generation immigrants, hold the values of their country close to their heart - and this is something they'd passed onto him.
Umar is terrified of being discovered. He truly wants nothing more than to be able to love Malachi out loud, the way he knows he deserves. But he can't be the one to do that for him.

Things to know:
Actors should be comfortable with intense emotional and mildly intimate scenes. (Crying, Shouting, Kissing)
Able to work in a collaborative environment
