When Lea, an exhausted single mother, falls asleep during her son’s therapy session, she is drawn into an archetypal inner journey that leads her to an house in the countryside. There, she seeks help for her son from an old healer.

Inspired by Scottish and Nordic folklore, Changeling is a modern fairytale exploring motherhood, its unspoken taboos, and the path toward acceptance.

Mrs. Holda is an eccentric, yet practical woman in her sixties or seventies, living alone in a remote house at the bottom of a valley somewhere in Scotland—or perhaps within the inner world of Lea, the film’s main character.

She is an archetypal wise woman, who tends to her birds and the other living creatures of the valley, keeping largely to herself. Locals know her as a healer or a witch; some whisper that she is even capable of healing even of controlling the weather. Mrs. Holda does indeed know how to cast spells, offer psychic or spiritual support and work in accordance with nature, when the moment calls for it.
