This an independent film about mental health in young people.
After a tough couple of months, Poppy moves house and becomes the new girl. Her mum encourages her to go to a local youth club to make friends. She never would’ve expected it to change her life. That evening, Luke walks into the youth centre. They are both there for similar reasons, with Poppy’s depression diagnosis and Luke’s troubled upbringing and home life. Poppy takes a leap of faith and reaches out to him by writing a message on a paper plane. This starts a whole conversation; they get to know each other and find out about their troubled past. They discuss their thoughts on hatred, despite her difference in opinion, Poppy begins intrigued in making Luke feel better. From that moment on, Poppy and Luke are engaging in conversation every day via paper planes. They talk about dreams, happiness, love, and other things. Poppy becomes desperate to help Luke find a reason to live.
This is a real passion project for me as it was meant to be a joint production with my late friend.
