We are looking for an actor/musician/assistant to join "Mancunianity Flows," a participatory audio-theatre project supported by Arts Council England. This initiative delves into memory, belonging, and the evolving landscapes of Manchester and Salford through narratives linked to the River Irwell.

Collaborating with ten older residents, the project merges oral history, storytelling, performance, live music, and immersive audio to craft a distinctive public walking experience. Stories created by participants will be integrated into six guided audio-theatre walks starting at Aviva Studios and following the river corridor.

At the heart of this initiative are older individuals, who will play key roles as artists, storytellers, and creative contributors, forging a powerful public experience that bridges local history, personal memories, and contemporary Manchester.

This site-responsive project includes workshops with older residents, rehearsal activities, and six public audio-theatre walks along the River Irwell corridor.

An experienced freelance Actor-Musician based in Greater Manchester or the North West to join Mancunianity Flows, an Arts Council England-funded participatory arts project.

The successful artist will work alongside older community participants, supporting storytelling workshops and helping transform participant memories and experiences into an immersive public audio-theatre experience.

Responsibilities include supporting creative workshops, voice and storytelling facilitation, assisting participants in developing performance confidence, contributing musical and creative ideas, performing within six public audio walks, and helping guide audiences during events

Particularly interested in artists with experience in community arts, participatory theatre, applied theatre, storytelling, heritage or place-based performance.

Applications from all artists, including those from underrepresented backgrounds and those with strong connections to Greater Manchester are highly encouraged.
