Zinnie Harris' feminist revision of the Brecht classic, for the Royal Lyceum, Edinburgh.
War is relentless. But for some, it is business as usual.
Mother Courage trades her way across battlefields – fierce, pragmatic, and determined to keep her children alive. But in the business of war, every choice comes at a cost. One of the greatest anti-war plays ever written. Blending music, dark humour and striking theatricality, this urgent new production is clear-eyed and compelling, reimagined by Zinnie Harris (Macbeth (an Undoing), The Duchess (of Malfi)).

MUST BE AN ACTOR AGED OVER 18, could be aged up to around 25 if they can look young (17-19).
In the original Kattrin is described as 'mute' as a result of an assault she suffered as a child, earlier in the war. Just growing into womanhood, she has a strong desire for a husband and children and is seen as a sensitive and compassionate figure in contrast to her more pragmatic mother. We would like to work with a DEAF ACTOR in this role, who speaks BSL and have funds for a BSL consultant to support our actor and Zinnie in working together. - Salary
- Usual UK Theatre/Equity MRSL 1 fee, currently £637.19 per week but will go up next financial year. There will be allowances for relocation, should they be necessary.
- Age
- 18 - 25
