She Remains is an award-winning feature screenplay (Best Feature Screenplay — Independent Horror Movie Awards) now in active pre-production for its summer 2026 shoot.
When Zack Fowler learns that his abusive ex-girlfriend Mia Kellum has died, he attends her funeral hoping to find closure. Instead, he starts seeing her everywhere. As Zack tries to move forward and begin healing, the ghosts of his past become the terrors of his present — forcing him to confront the full truth of what their relationship really was.
A grounded, character-driven psychological horror film about trauma, memory, and the weight of what we survive, She Remains draws heavy narrative inspiration from The Invisible Man (2020) and visual inspiration from The Fall of the House of Usher, blending psychological dread with intimate, performance-driven storytelling.
She Remains is produced in association with ReImagine Indie, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit dedicated to supporting independent filmmakers. The project is helmed by writer-director Sam [Last Name], a multi-award-winning screenwriter and jury member for the New York Screenwriting Competition. While his short film work is still developing, his writing has earned consistent recognition across competitive national screenwriting circuits.
This is a heavy character performance piece. Rehearsals are a priority, and the set will be collaborative, open, and built on trust between director and cast. Because this story draws from real experiences with abusive relationships, it will be handled with sensitivity, care, and full professionalism — including both a stunt coordinator and an intimacy coordinator.
Estimated 21–22 shoot days, late June through mid-July 2026. Compensation includes deferred pay (contingent on fundraising), IMDb credit, meals provided on set, and a copy of the finished film. This project will be submitted to film festivals with intent for wide release.
We're looking for actors who are ready to fully inhabit complex, layered characters — performers willing to do the deep work, stay in it through rehearsal and production, and bring these people to life from the inside out. If that's the kind of work that excites you, we want to hear from you. - Dates
