Henry Nolan Profile

I was born and raised in Birmingham to Irish parents. I grew up on a council estate in South Birmingham and attended local catholic schools. I left school with very few qualifications but after working in a series of factory and service industry jobs I returned to education in order to develop and pursue my passionate interest in drama and performing arts. I went on to found a small touring theatre company and wrote a number of plays that dealt with the subjects of place and Identity (King of Spades, Mother’s Ruin, Born to be Queen, Curtains) most of which were performed on tour throughout the West Midlands. Having gained a first class honours degree in Drama and Film Studies I went on to teach in Sixth form and Further education where I worked predominately with young people from the inner city areas of Birmingham.
