Daniel Johns Profile

I trained at Rose Bruford College and then studied with Jacques Lecoq in Paris for one year. His first job was at Manchester Library theatre where he was director of mime for Hansel and Gretel. He worked in repertory theatre playing such roles as Mason in Journeys End, Uncle Sam in The Homecoming and Harold in Boys in the Band, and he toured with Prospect Productions in The Birdwatcher. He also worked in film and television in the late sixties and early seventies. He then went into teaching and taught English as a Foreign Language in Cairo, Damascus and Yeditepe University in Istanbul. He returned to acting in 2013 working under the name Daniel Johns and did mainly film work. However, in 2017 he played Nagg in Endgame on stage in Kingston. The film Six Rounds in which he played George was selected for showing at the East London Film festival in 2016. In November 2021 he received a best performance award at the Under Five Minute Film Festival for the short film My Love.
